Optic is a risograph-printed publication that pays homage to the "Independent Eye", Cincinnati's underground counterculture newspaper (circa 1968-1975). This paper was created by myself and partner Jon Flannery (Cryptogram Ink) using entirely analogue production methods synonymous with the original Eye papers -- from typewriter text to cut and paste hand layout. Optic features contributions from 16 unique local artists, as well as a color insert featuring a collage of original artwork from the Independent Eye archives. Each copy nestled in a stamped brown kraft sleeve. This project is the conclusion of a year-long Independent Eye retrospective, which also featured an exhibition and panel discussion at the downtown Public Library.
