This is "green head". I got excited at the mystery of this fellow when I saw it tucked away about 7 feet high at an antique mall this afternoon. Based on the design, a Jim Henson original puppet, perhaps? The tag simply read "GREEN HEAD - $50". It is paper-mache with an excellent paint job. No mention of the artist or any significance or context, though. It is simply "green head".
Ten days since the last update on the blog feels like about three months. I suppose that's what you get when you make a goal to update it at least a couple times a week.
Anyway, I have spent the last few weeks moving (not to a new city, but about thirty minutes across town), but things have finally started to slow down. The best part of the move was that 1. it only took my two cats a day to stop hiding behind the toilet and under the couch, and 2. for the first time in years I have a completely independent, permanent art studio in my home. It was undoubtedly the thing I was most excited about regarding the move, and the end result hasn't disappointed. So, with nothing new to scan in for obvious reasons, here a few (bad quality) pictures of the new studio and some of the surroundings.
Back to normal soon!
P.S. - Saxby has hit a minor roadblock in production and the publishing ETA has been pushed back until an October-November-ish. On the brightside, just in time for Christmas, right?
Celebrating the 100th anniversary of Tove Jansson today! Maybe there is a celebration going on in your area today (check the calender at tove100.com), if you're not in the US that is.
