Something amazing I stumbled upon recently are these old copies of "The Record Changer", an obscure jazz magazine from the late 40s/early 50s. The covers and interior art were done by animation artists like Gene Deitch and John Hubley. The first cover is a reference to Ward Kimball's Dixeland jazz band "The Firehouse Five Plus Two". These look fantastic. They look like stock photos, but they are actually my copies, the magazines just fit my scanner size perfectly.
Two things I haven't gotten to do in a while ... color and sketch my favorite Jim Henson characters. This afternoon felt like a good time.
